If you are hardcore powder hunter 8 peaks probably isn't your first choice as 8 Peaks stands out as a beacon of fair-weather, European-style alpine skiing in Japan, where the mountains are often characterized by harsh, heavy-snowfall days. Its clear weather rate is 80% with plenty of blue skies.  Another feature is a high amount of man made snow machines to fill in for mother nature. 8 Peaks Resorts consist of six ski resorts around the Yatsugatake range in Nagano and all within 15 minutes drive by free hotel shuttle giving your daily snow experience plenty of variety and choice.

Shirakaba Resort Ikenotaira Snow Park is family friendly and suited to beginners or young children. It is also the location of the beautiful ski in out Ikenotaira Hotel. This is a convenient base from which you have free access the other 5 resorts in the Yatsugatake ranges. All within 15 minutes by free shuttle when you stay at Ikenotaira Hotel.

Shirakabako Royal Hill - 3 minutes by pre-booked on demand transfer
Shirakaba Royal Hill Ski Resort is overlooking Lake Shirakaba. It is also the only place in the area where you can go night skiing. The wide slopes are also one of its attractions. The free pole barn and kickers are also popular.

Shirakaba 2 in 1 - 4 minutes by free scheduled bus
Shirakaba 2 in 1 Ski Area has groomed runs, tree runs, park and are fun for everyone from beginners to experts. The canyon course is open when there is natural snowfall and you can enjoy special powder. You can see the view of Mt. Tateshina which symbolizes the area. You can also enjoy the Northern Alps (Hakuba, etc.) in the distance.

Shirakaba Kukusai - 6 minutes by free scheduled bus
Shirakaba Kokusai Ski Resort is only the resort which has the gondola in the area. The ``Cross Country Challenge Course'' has an extremely gentle slope and is a 5km long forested course, so even beginners can enjoy it. The course is wide and enjoyable for the intermediate too. You can enjoy your lunch on the terrace overlooking the Northern Alps including Hauba.

Blanche Takayama - 12 minutes by pre-booked on demand transfer
Blanche Takayama Ski Resort is only for skiers, so it's popular among families. As with other ski resorts, you can enjoy a distant view of the Northern Alps including Hakuba Goryu. It is the only ski resort in 8 Peaks where you can see Mt. Fuji. The restaurant is also an authentic Japanese-style food court, which is a feature not found in other ski resorts.

Pilatus Tateshina - 15 minutes by pre-booked on demand transfer
PILUTUS Tateshina Snow Resort has the second highest altitude in Japan and the snow quality is amazing. It has the only ropeway in the area, and is popular not only with skiers, but also with visitors admiring the scenery and people doing light mountain climbing. With a south-facing slope and views of the Southern and Central Alps, it has a landscape that is a little different from the rest of the area

The location
The closest Shinkansen station is JR Sakudaira, which is 60 minutes from Ikenotaira Hotel. The Shirakaba Resort Ikenotaira Hotel runs the scheduled shuttle once a day to and from JR Sakudaira station. The cost is ￥2,400 yen each way. They also run the shuttle bus from Haneda airport to the hotel every Sunday. We can help plan and book all transfers.
